Tavistock to Sampford Peverell.

Today involved long climbs to Dartmoor. And long climbs across Dartmoor and descents into valleys with consequent ascents too numerous to mention.

Happily we happened on an old posting station/ pub with a carvery, negating the need for me to unwrap the rather dry toast and jam I had saved from breakfast.

A plaque outside The Post at Whiddon Down explained the history of the inn: The barmaid shared with us a local secret, and we concluded our journey to Sampford Peverell with relatively little incident*
