Hi everyone, I started this blog so that those who are interested can see what we are up to and those who want to learn from our mistakes about long distance cycling are welcome too. Also I’d like a vehicle to talk about random things – plants, books, saxophones,     politics.

The main reason I started just now was because of the great difficulty I had in choosing a bike to do our LEJOG trip.     Those in the bike shop kept talking about ‘roadbikes’ for goodness sake – well obviously I want a road bike – I’m not going up river to john O groats. Yet it seems, after all, I did not want a road bike at all. But I only discovered this after visiting several shops, talking to many people and consulting many blogs.

I wanted a touring bike. And that’s where the story begins.
